Previously called Black Mountain Energy Consultants (est. 2018), Vassara assists utilities and business customers to prepare, plan and execute business initiatives to address new energy realities. 

 

Chris Asimakis, Founder and Managing Director

Chris brings over 40 years of energy experience spanning the electric utility, district energy, and distributed renewable energy spectrum. Prior to Vassara, Chris co-founded Potentia Solar. He grew Potentia to become the largest Solar Rooftop company in Canada, with over 100 megawatts of peak capacity spread over 600 unique sites. Potentia also developed over 20 megawatts of utility community solar power in Minnesota. Prior to this, Chris was the Chief Operating Officer of Enwave Energy Corporation, where he oversaw the construction and commissioning of Enwave's flagship renewable energy project, Deep Lake Water Cooling. 

 

Graham Gabel, Senior Business Analyst

Graham brings over a decade of experience in the energy sector. He was most recently the Director of Project Management and Operations at Matthews Alternative Energy, where he oversaw project development and the acquisition of 50+ megawatts of operating solar assets in Ontario while constructing and operating an additional 10+ megawatts.

Matthew Krick, Senior Technical Analyst

Matthew has 10 years of experience in property management in both commercial and residential buildings. In his prior role on Q Residential's asset management team, he specialized in sustainability, BAS monitoring and project management. In his time with property management firms, Matthew has been able to demonstrate his proficiency across a wide range of business segments to showcase his blend of analytical skill and strategic thinking. Matthew is fascinated by the increasing volume of data generated by connected devices in buildings and seeks to utilize this resource to inform business decision making.

Petroula Asimakis, Director of Operations

Petroula brings over 25 years of senior management and administration experience to Vassara. Prior to joining Vassara, Petroula was the Administrator for a residential healthcare facility where she managed internal operations and led a team of managers. Petroula keeps Vassara running smoothly by managing all matters of administration, including human resources, accounting and scheduling.
